Meet Our Team

Sam Thomas

Knowledge and Library Services Manager
I am responsible for leading the Knowledge and Library Services team at UHD.
I have a clinical healthcare background, having trained and worked as an Orthoptist in the NHS prior to moving into a career in librarianship in 2017. I have a professional interest in Artificial Intelligence and related technologies in Libraries, and I am an IFLA Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group Committee Member.
I enjoy drumming, craft beer and supporting Weymouth FC.

Barb Peirce

Knowledge and Library Systems Specialist
I provide help for the Specialties Care Group for UHD –Child Health, Women’s Health, Cancer Care, Clinical Support and Pathology, assisting with evidence-based decision making, information literacy instruction and study skills.
I am also one of the leads for the Library Management System for the region.
I enjoy helping on Brownsea Island, baking and walking, I dislike coriander and tea.

Liz Wright

Outreach Librarian and Knowledge Specialist
My role includes carrying out information searches to help with evidence-based practice, policy making and QI projects. I also facilitate Journal clubs, organise randomised coffee trials and train colleagues on critical appraisal, study skills, health literacy and how to find papers. As well as this I look after the day to day running of the library at RBH.
I like cheese, pizza and wine, running (because of all the cheese, pizza and wine!), cows and holidays. I dislike tea, coffee and bad manners.

Richard Daly

Clinical Librarian and Knowledge Specialist
I help to deliver a highly visible, dynamic knowledge service to all clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust. I do this via completing high quality evidence searches, current awareness, and training, as well as promoting the services we offer and developing innovative new ones. I am an expert RDA cataloguer.
I like running, wildlife, and ice hockey. I dislike dogs, cats and cardigans.

Lisa Stooks

Outreach Librarian
My role involves conducting Information searches for evidence-based practice, facilitating journal clubs, assisting with study skills and health literacy training and promoting our library services to our colleagues across the Trust.
I like holidays, music, food and spending time with family. I dislike frogs and being under water.

Emily Cieciura

Outreach Librarian

I have wide-ranging experience of library and information work, mainly in higher education and the commercial sector. My current role involves conducting detailed literature searches, training library users, stock development, promoting library use, and working with the rest of the team to ensure the smooth running of UHD's libraries.

Reuben Smith

Knowledge & Evidence Support Technician

I help provide support to the Poole Library team by covering reception, helping people with queries or requests, and assisting with any administration the team needs doing.  I am also doing an apprenticeship in Library, Information & Archives Services. I like mango bubble tea, Tamagotchis, and spreadsheets. I dislike spiders and hot weather.

Edward Owen

Library Technician
I provide support to the library department via roles such as attending reception, and helping to fulfil requests and enquiries sent to us through e-mails or in person. I am currently undergoing the apprenticeship for my role as Library Technician. I like literature, film, and other forms of art. I dislike subscription services for computer programs.
