Literature Search Service

Literature search ROM poster (A2 (Landscape))
Our resource of the month for this October is our literature search service.

No time to find the evidence you need for a project, policy or for caring for a particular patient? Fed up with AI bot nonsense and want trustworthy papers and studies?

No problem! We are here to provide you with the ‘gift of time’. A literature search is a detailed, comprehensive, and systematic search of the published and unpublished research and literature. Our trained and skilled human library staff search databases and our networks to track down the information you are seeking and produce a search report of the results for you.

Are you a UHD or DHC staff member looking for information for one of the reasons below? If so, click here to request a search, or contact us to discuss if you have any questions.

  • Patient care
  • Quality or continuous improvement projects
  • Commissioning
  • Audit
  • Policies, procedures, guidelines or business cases
  • Patient information resources
  • Research or writing for publication
  • General interest or Continuing Professional Development
  • Systematic reviews
  • Teaching or presentations

We aim to complete literature searches within 14 working days, but deadline is negotiable depending on your request and library staff capacity.

If you require an urgent search for patient care, please email us directly on uhd.library@nhs.net

Please note: if you are a student and need to complete a literature search as part of your studies we are unable to undertake this for you, but we can help you with a short training session. Find out more here.
