Become a Library Champion

You can become one of our Library Champions!

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to become Library Champions and help us shape the future of our services. As a Champion, you’ll be an invaluable link between your colleagues and the library team, ensuring our resources and spaces truly meet the needs of Dorset Healthcare and UHD staff and students.

If you would like to become a Library Champion, please email us at uhd.library@nhs.net.

What does it involve?

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to become Library Champions and help us shape the future of our services.

As a Champion, you’ll be an invaluable link between your colleagues and the library team, ensuring our resources and services meet the needs of staff and students at University Hospitals Dorset and Dorset HealthCare Trusts.

You’ll be part of a network spanning 2 NHS Trusts in Dorset. You’ll play a key role in shaping the our Knowledge and Library Services by sharing valuable resources and messages with your team, and ensuring the library remains an essential support for all staff and students.

You will receive targeted email updates about new resource and services and be part of a dedicated Microsoft Teams Channel. We would also like you to attend monthly NHS Library Champion discussions where you can exchange best practices for promoting evidence-based resources, discuss challenges in meeting staff information needs, and gain support from your fellow champions.

What's in it for me?

Becoming a Library Champion offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference and enhance your own professional development. You’ll also receive a Library Champion badge and certificate to recognise your valuable contribution! You’ll get to:

  • Collaborate on exciting projects: Work directly with library staff to enhance our services, collections, or spaces.

  • Influence future developments: Participate in user experience research and focus groups to help us  develop new resources.

  • Champion evidence-based practice: Help us spread the word about our evidence-based resources and become an expert in using them effectively.

  • Be a key Knowledge Mobiliser and Connector: Encourage colleagues to use our services and keep us informed about important events.

If you’re passionate about knowledge, learning, and making a positive impact, we’d love to hear from you. Sign up today!

We are very keen to include a wide range of voices in the Library Champions programme and welcome all staff – clinical and non-clinical.
